FORMER FINN HARPS player and manager Gavin Dykes says the Ballybofey side could cause some surprises in next season’s Premier Division.
Dykes was part of the Harps squad that reached the FAI Cup final in 1999 and had a subsequent spell as player-manager at Finn Park.
These days, he is Head of Youth Development at Sligo Rovers. After seeing Sligo’s Under-19s defeat Harps 3-0 at Maginn Park on Saturday, Dykes spoke to Donegal Sport Hub.
“We’re on a rebuilding process,” he said.
“Harps coming up is fantastic. It’s great for the area. We have Derry, Harps and Sligo. It gives young people the pathway to senior football too and that’s key.
“People say that Harps will come straight back down. I don’t think they will. Finn Park has always been a difficult place to go. I hope things go well for them. We need these three clubs doing well.”
