COCKHILL CELTIC PLAYER-MANAGER Gavin Cullen savoured the moment last night as his team collected a fourth Ulster Senior League title in a row.
Trailing to goals from from Conor Tourish and Jordan Allen, Cockhill hit back in the last ten minutes.
Gerard McLaughlin opened up the possibilities and Peter Doherty provided the champagne moment with an 88th minute header that secured the point Cockhill needed.
[adrotate group=”62″]“It was a really enjoyable night, but it was one of the toughest games that we’ve had,” Cullen, who succeeded Donal O’Brien last summer in the hotseat, told Donegal Sport Hub.
“They showed tremendous character and it was a great way to win it. Doing that made it a bit sweeter.
“In all the years I’ve played, this team in terms of character and never-say-die attitude is something else. They literally are never beaten when there is something at stake.
[adrotate group=”37″]“It’s a testament to the players. We have a great blend of leadership and quality in the team.”
Cockhill have one League game remaining – against Letterkenny Rovers – and avoiding defeat in that will mean a fourth unbeaten season in a row.
Cockhill also take on Letterkenny in the League Cup final, but first up they take on Inishowen rivals Glengad United in this Sunday’s Knockalla Caravans Cup final at Maginn Park.
