AS FIRST days out go, it will be jotted down as one of the better ones.
“It’s always great to win against a reasonably quality team in Down, who are up in Division 1,” the Donegal manager, Rory Gallagher (pictured above) told Donegal Sport Hub afterwards.
“Like ourselves, they would have been trying out a few players as well, but we’re all pleased to get going.”
Six players made their county debuts from the start and another, Cillian Morrison, made his as a late replacement on a decent day at the office.
Gallagher said: “We have such an abundance of young quality players and for them there would be nothing better than playing in a McKenna Cup semi-final.
“It’s always good to win and show a wee bit of mettle to win.”
