OLLIE HORGAN REAFFIRMED the assertion that Finn Harps will be in a battle to preserve their top-flight status after a 1-0 loss to Bray Wanderers.
Bray are back within seven points of Harps, who have an 11-point cushion on play-off-spot-occupiers Wexford Youths, who visit Ballybofey in a fortnight’s time.
“People might be sick of me saying the same thing, but we are in a battle to stay in this division,” Horgan told Donegal Sport Hub.
[adrotate group=”38″]“All of a sudden now, people are realising that we are back in the mix.
“When we were on a run, they thought we were going to some other sort of place, but it was always going to be the case that we were fighting for our lives and nothing has changed there.”
Harps didn’t so much misfire at The Carlisle Grounds as fail to spark. Despite having 52 per cent of the possession, Harps had just one shot on target.
[adrotate group=”50″]Horgan acknowledged that his team was fortunate to be just one in arrears at the break.
He said: “We were outplayed in the first half. Bray were excellent and should have had the game put to bed.
“It was disappointing to concede from the corner when Conor Kenna got away at the near post.
[adrotate group=”43″]“We’ll have to look at it. We knew how strong Conor was. It’s not that we didn’t know about that. It was disappointing, but they could have scored two or three more.
“We should have been dead and buried, but we knew at half-time that we got away with it in terms of still being in the game.
“In the second half, we pinned Bray back at times, but the better side won overall and we have no complaints.
“We’ll take our oil and move on.”
