DECLAN Walsh delivered a five-star display for Malin on Sunday – and says that the Inishowen side won’t fear the knockout phase.
Two years ago, Malin stunned St Eunan’s in a quarter-final, but missed out on a place in the final when they were beaten by Killybegs in the semi-final.
After Sunday’s win over Gaoth Dobhair, Malin are back in the knockout phase again – and Walsh insists they’re not finished.
“We’re looking for a bit of respect,” he told Donegal Sport Hub.
“We’ll not fear anyone. If we can turn it on, we can beat anyone, but it’s just a matter of getting the consistency.”
With Odhrán MacNiallais hitting nine points for Gaoth Dobhair, Malin were pushed all the way.
Dan McDaid’s two goals kept the Connolly Park men in front and Walsh, excellent throughout, set up the crucial third goal for Brendan McLaughlin in a 3-8 to 1-11 win.
Walsh said: “We are used to making things hard for ourselves, but we showed great character to get the goal at the end.”
