DAVITT Walsh hopes that former glories can be restored at Triagh-A-Locha this season.
The Kerrykeel man has rejoined Fanad United and has had spells at Finn Harps, Bohemians, Shelbourne, Ballymena, Lisburn and Institute.
The attacker, who graduated from Fanad’s youth ranks, returns to the club now under the guidance of Arthur Lynch.
Fanad’s powers have waned of late with the club taking the decision not to enter the interim season before the return to winter football. The first season back kicks off this weekend and Fanad are back in situ again.
“The club has gone through a bad period this last couple of years,” Walsh told Donegal Sport Hub.
“We’re really looking forward to starting off now, though.
“Artie has come in and has a lot of experienced people back in there. He’s very enthusiastic and is working very hard. We’re just trying to get the club back again.
“Artie is a Fanad legend. He’s won numerous League titles and has had big Cup runs. He knows the score in Fanad.”
Attacker Walsh beliebves that the USL will be ultra competitive this season.
He said: “Every team has a crack at winning something. It makes for an interesting League.
“We’re just going to try our best to compete and maybe surprise a team or two.”
