DAVEY HONE HAILED his team of ‘football heads’ after Scoil Mhuire, Buncrane defeated Moville Community College in the Ulster First Year Girl’s final in Burnfoot.
Moville’s Kerrie Brown snatched a goal back, but Scoil Mhuire had laid the foundations for a memorable win by then.
“It was a great performance by the girls,” Hone told Donegal Sport Hub.
“They’re a great bunch, they work hard and they train hard. They’re a good team to work with.
“We said we needed to start fast and push on fast.”
Pinero is a native of Madrid, spending this school year in Buncrana. The programme is designed to enable Spanish students improve on their use of the English language.
The language of football is global, though, and Pinero’s brace comprised two superbly-taken goals.
“It was a great finish, fantastic,” Hone said of her first, adding: “This is the first game she’s started and she’s getting better and better. The third goal was the icing on the cake.
“Moville battled to the end. They never stop. They fought hard, got a goal, but our girls kept it tight at the back.”
