WITH FIVE POINTS from play, Daniel Brennan was the man of the match in tonight’s Danske Bank Markey Cup (Ulster Schools Under-18A) final as Abbey Vocational School won the trophy for the first time.
The Donegal town school defeated Fermanagh Schools 1-12 to 1-5 at the Tyrone Centre of Excellence in Garvahey to put the cap on a fine campaign in which they came in under the radar having been knocked out of the Donegal championship at the semi-final stage.

But Pauric O’Donnell’s side steadied themselves on the provincial front and are now the toast of the town. There had been an exciting build-up and that in turn might’ve increased expectancy but Abbey let their talking get done on the pitch and can now look forward to the celebrations.
“It was a team performance,” Brennan said afterwards. “The build-up to this game – the new gear, the hype about the town, the hype about the school – it’d have counted for nothing had we not won today. We put in a good shift and made best use of the conditions.” ‘
