Cormac O’Gara, the Dunedin Connolly’s manager, made no excuses as his All-British champions from Edinburgh exited the AIB All-Ireland JFC at the semi-final stage this afternoon against Rock St Patrick’s from Tyrone.
Dunedin were defeated on a 1-18 to 2-6 scoreline at the Atheltic Grounds in Armagh and O’Gara – a native of Glencolmcille – felt the inside forwards of Rock, Aidan McGarrity and Conor McCreesh, were excellent for the Ulster champions.
[adrotate group=”53″]“In fairness to the Rock they were very sharp all day,” he said. “Especially in the last third of the field. Every ball stuck. And it’s not just the two boys. The ball they were putting in was exceptional.
“They will be two boys that will be hard to handle in the final.”
At half-time, the Dunedin deficit was four points, following a goal late in the half from Francis Molloy, which gave O’Gara and his Scottish team some hope.
[adrotate group=”46″]“We got a goal there before half-time and then we could’ve had another one,” he added. “But you nitpick here and there but all in all the better team won.
“Maybe that bit of experience on the big day told”
