FINN HARPS GOALKEEPER Ciaran Gallagher was delighted to emerge unscathed from last night’s relegation battle with Wexford Youths.
Gallagher made a string of superb second-half saves in the 0-0 draw as Harps moved ever-closer to survival – something that could be secured on Monday night should Wexford fail to beat Cork City.
“It was a good point,” Gallagher told Donegal Sport Hub.
“This is a tough place to come.. At the end of the day we’re happy with the point.
“The longer the game stayed nil-nil the more chances they were going to have. The boys really stood up in the last 20 minutes. It’s nice to get the point and a clean sheet.
“They got a great result against Galway which set it up. It put a bit of pressure on us to come down here, but the boys stood up and dug it out.”
The Raphoe man, who grew up a Harps supporter, has seen enough of the First Division in his time.
He said: “We had a lot of tough years in the First Division. We’ve worked hard to stay in the Premier now.
“It shows how far we’ve come as a group of players that we’re going into the last week of the season above the drop zone. This is a massive week for the club.”
