BRENDAN BOYCE’S focus is now firmly on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio next August.
The Milford native will compete in the 50k race walk and by the time the event is over Boyce aims to be in the top eight, at least, at Flamengo Park.
As the page on the calendar is turning, Boyce is off to the Canaries for eight days’ training and will also spend a week training in Spain. He’ll compete in an indoor race in France on January 17 with a 5k earmarked in Bratislava, too.
“Rio is the dot on the map and everything else is put in around that,” Boyce told Donegal Sport Hub.
“I’ll focus on 20ks for the main part of the season, from March to June. Then, it’s shut the doors and prep for going to Rio.
“Everything is moving forward and every year is improving.”
