BOSCO GALLAGHER WAS RELIEVED to see his Bonagee United side rescue a point against Fanad United in the Donegal Youth League at Triagh-A-Locha on Wednesday night.
Fanad looked set to be heading for a win thanks to goals by Ciaran Blaney and Allen Passoma, but Bonagee struck in the dying moments.
Evan McCroary and Noah Sanni netted to earn Bonagee an unlikely draw.
Former Finn Harps and Fanad United goalkeeper Gallagher is in his first foray into management with the Bonagee youths.
“Fanad were quicker to every ball, sharper and wanted it more – everything we weren’t,” Gallagher told Donegal Sport Hub.
“We got two soft goals late on, but we’ll take that. The young fellas need to learn and look at their own performance.
“It’s about getting them football and getting them to learn.”
Gallagher sees a direct connection between the Youth League sides and the Ulster Senior League, while he had some interesting views on the local soccer scene in general.
Donegal Youth League Fixtures, Saturday, September 26, 2pm unless otherwise stated
Illistrin United v Bonagee United, Swilly Rovers v Keadue Rovers, Gweedore United v Fanad United, Gweedore Celtic v Drumkeen United (4pm).
