PETER MORAN WASN’T mincing his words after his Bonagee United side opened their Ulster Senior League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Swilly Rovers.
Although Moran’s team managed to scrape a 1-1 draw with their visitors, who had just installed Gerry Crossan as manager themselves, Bonagee missed a hatful of chances when 1-0 down to a Laurence Toland goal before Aidan McLaughlin’s 86th minute leveller.
[adrotate group=”38″]However, Moran had a frustrating afternoon as his side missed chance after chance and was spoken to at one stage in the second half by match referee Tommy McAree having complained from the sidelines.
“They battled away in fairness,” Moran said of Swilly Rovers. “Give them credit. We simply weren’t good enough. We’re lucky in fairness to get away with it. It’s embarrassing. There is no silver lining today. I’m going to take a long hard look at myself. It’s meant to be a game where you try and develop.”
