ALEXANDER TINNEY is aiming to impress after being called into the Irish Hockey Under-21 training panel.
Jonny Caren’s squad are in preparation for the European Junior Championships next August and 17-year-old Raphoe player Tinney is one of three new faces drafted into the training panel.
“I’m really excited,” Tinney told Donegal Sport Hub.
“I was down in the Under-18 interpros and the Under-21 coach gave me the call.
[adrotate group=”76″]“I wasn’t expecting it at all. I got messages on Twitter and didn’t really know what it was about until I saw my name on the sheet.
“It’s something I really want. I probably won’t make the team, but I’ll not cross it out either.
“It’ll be faster and sharper. You’ll have big strong men coming at you. You just have to bring your game all the time.”
[adrotate group=”46″]Tinney said: “It’s fabulous. It’s eight years since the Royal got into a final, so it’s happy days.”
