Audio: Abbey VS manager Pauric O’Donnell thrilled with Markey Cup progress

ABBEY VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS manager Pauric O’Donnell knows all about the importance of the Markey Cup – and was thrilled to see his side win advance to the semi-finals.

A former student himself at Coláiste na Carraige, O’Donnell is well versed in the competition.

His Abbey VS side overcame Ballybay Community College 2-20 to 1-8 in testing conditions at Garvaghey this afternoon, when Brendan McCole and Jack Keaney hit early second half goals.

“We wanted to start the second half well with the running game,” O’Donnell told Donegal Sport Hub.

“We didn’t expect to get two goals so quick, but the boys worked well. It took us a while to adapt to the 3G surface and the conditions were very tough.”
