A NEW playing surface is being laid at the Athletic Grounds for the Ulster final between Donegal and Cavan.
Concerns had been expressed over the state of the pitch following Cavan’s win over Down in Sunday’s semi-final.
However, the Ulster Council has moved to address those fears.
The entire playing pitch is in the process of being re-sodded.
“Logistically it is a big undertaking,” a spokesperson told BBC NI.
“We are already well underway and the resurfacing will be finished by Thursday. It seems the weekend weather is also in our favour, the pitch will be in great shape.”
Donegal manager Declan Bonner outlined his concerns earlier this week.
Bonner said: “Both goals and going out 25 metres, it looked pretty dug up.
“We can only take it that the powers that be will see to it that the pitch will be win a proper playing condition.”
