ARDARA overcame Milford in Tuesday evening’s U-21A championship clash at Moyle View Park.
Milford 1-10Â Ardara 0-15
But a two-point away win means that the side managed by Damien Diver are the first to seal a berth in the semi-finals of the competition, having already enjoyed a 0-7 to 0-4 victory over St Michael’s.
Milford, who won the U-21B competition last year, saw Kyle’ Black’s early goal have them on terms at 0-4 to 1-1 on 16 minutes, with Ardara’s Tomás Boyle in good form in front of the posts.
Despite losing Stefen Boyle for a spell to injury and then Simon Breslin to a red card on 27 minutes, Ardara were still all square at half-time, although Kane Barrett levelled it for Milford to leave the score 0-7 to 1-4.
Ardara might light of their numerical disadvantage to start the second half well with Boyle and Brendan McNelis finding their range. Six points over the course of the hour from Cathal McGettigan kept Milford in touch.
But with Black and Dylan Hegarty both passing up half-chances for goal it was Ardara who progressed with Stefan Boyle kicking three points from play.
A derby – against the winners of Kilcar v Naomh Conaill – awaits Ardara in the semi-final.
