A NEW MANAGER for the Donegal senior ladies team will be announced in the coming days.
Interviews for the vacancy began this week and officials are keen to make a swift appointment.
There are three names in for the position.
Trevor Alcorn and Francie Friel, who guided Termon ladies to All-Ireland, Ulster and Donegal titles last year, have submitted separate applications and have already been interviewed by Ladies County Board officials.
The third candidate – Michael Naughton – will go before the interview panel this Wednesday night.
Naughton managed Donegal to the All-Ireland Intermediate title in 2010.
After Naughton puts his case forward, the Board intend to confirm their new manager by Thursday.
Davy McLaughlin stepped down from the position after guiding Donegal to a first-ever Ulster senior ladies title in July.
The subsequent All-Ireland quarter-final loss against Armagh was his final game in charge.
The Moville man had been in charge since picking up the baton during a turbulent time last year.
After Maggie Foy stepped down, County Board officials held the reigns until McLaughlin moved into the breach.
Their rise was steady and the progress made under his watch culminated in Clones when they defeated Monaghan in the Ulster final.
