FRANCIE FRIEL HAS decided to step down as Termon ladies manager.
He made the decision in the wake of his side’s 0-14 to 0-7 loss in Saturday’s Ulster ladies final at the hands of Monaghan champions Donaghmoyne at Killyclougher, Co Tyrone.

Last year, 2014, is certainly the stand-out in a memorable three years at the helm for Friel at the Burn Road.
Termon won all six competitions they entered – the Donegal and All-Ireland Comortás Peile na Gaeltachta, the Donegal Ladies League Division 1, the Donegal and Ulster SFC titles and the Tesco HomeGrown All-Ireland Senior Ladies Club Championship.
Geraldine McLaughlin scored 3-8 as Friel’s side came from behind to defeat Mourneabbey from Cork 3-12 to 1-13 at Tuam Stadium in Galway.
Friel, who was also kitman for Jim McGuinness’s Donegal, initially took over in 2013 and worked alongside Trevor Alcorn, whilst also training Termon’s men’s team.
This year Termon ladies won a fourth successive Donegal SFC and the All-Ireland Comortás Peile na Gaeltachta, while Friel was also part of Paddy McDaid’s backroom team and the club sealed the All-County Division Two with a win over St Naul’s on Saturday night in Convoy.
“I’d like to thank the girls for their commitment and dedication they’ve put in,” Friel said. “Winning six from six last year was a great achievement for everyone. There’s a good panel there and I’m happy someone can take over and work with a great team. The girls will have a fresh voice in there now and I’d like to wish them and whoever takes over all the very best.”
