Letterkenny Rovers advanced in the with an emphatic 5-0 win over Carrick Rovers on Sunday.
Carrick Rovers 0-5 Letterkenny Rovers
The game was moved to the Monaghan Astro as the Carrickmacross venue was waterlogged but it was Letterkenny who didn’t let pre-match disruption prevent them from getting off to a blistering start when Adam Yissau fired them ahead early in the opening half following a trademark mazy dribble and shot which sailed into the goal.
This goal settled nerves and Rovers began to play some neat attacking football and imposed their mark on proceedings and deservedly doubled the advantage when Sean McGinley fired home from just inside the box.
Jason Blake provided the third and he laid it on a plate for Adam Yissau and his header gave the Monaghan keeper no chance and it was 3-0 just before halftime.
Letterkenny’s tempo did not cease after the interval and  Nathan Plumb scored goal number four while Yissau made sure of his hat-trick when scoring his third and Rovers fifth after a sublime Nathan Bonner assist  to make it a good days work at Gortakeegan.
