AARON McGlynn has finished seventh in the boy’s 800m final at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The Finn Valley AC man wasn’t at his best and finished in a time of 2:04.35.
McGlynn (pictured above with his coach Peadar McGranaghan, courtesy of Kieran Carlin) had come through his heat on Tuesday to reach the final, where the Gairmscoil Chu Uladh student came home in seventh.
The race was won by Marino Bloudek of Croatia in 1:53.76 – a new p.b – with Belgium’s Eliott Cretan (1:54.02) taking silver and Spaniard Javier Miron Caro (1:54.92) claiming bronze.
McGlynn was one of four Donegal athletes on the Irish Track and Field team competing in Tbilisi.
His club-mate Sommer Lecky won a bronze medal in the high jump, while Arlene Crossan – another out of the Finn Valley stable – was ninth in the long jump.
On Friday, Lifford AC’s Brendan O’Donnell came seventh in the hammer throw.
