MILFORD TOOK A huge step towards survival in Division 1 with an away win at Aodh Ruadh this afternoon.
Aodh Ruadh 0-12 Milford 1-11
A goal from Darragh Black was key for the visitors and Aodh Ruadh are now in serious trouble at the bottom of the table.
Danny O’Donnell’s side, who made the trip south with a spring in their step having overcome Kilcar, were 1-8 to 0-7 in front at the break and saw it out in the second half.
Kane Barrett’s attempt at a point on 11 minutes fell short and goalkeeper Aodh Ruadh spilled the ball and Black palmed home what was to be the only goal of the contest.
Diarmaid McInerney landed three first half points for the home team but they still trailed by four at the changing of ends.
With just over 10 minutes remaining, Paddy Gillespie was denied by a decent save from Caolan McGettigan in the Milford goal and his brother Cathal kicked a fine 45 into the wind.
The win means Milford are now six points clear of Aodh Ruadh, who have just four matches to save themselves.
