THE DONEGAL MINOR hurlers overcame Armagh in the Ulster Minor Hurling Championship at MacCumhaill park yesterday.
Donegal 4-24 Armagh 1-8
Champion boxer Jason Quigley gave them an insight into what it takes to succeed at the top when he spoke to them on Friday night and joined the squad for the game on Saturday at MacCumhaill Park.
He will have been well pleased with what he saw as the young Donegal lads proved much too strong for Armagh and raced to a comprehensive 25 points victory.
Lorcan O Toole’s team dominated from the start and led by 2-12 to 0-04 at the break, Aaron Craig 1-03, Jordan Barr 1-01 and team captain Stephen Anderson 0-04 did the bulk of the scoring.
Despite facing a stiff breeze in the second-half Donegal continued to dominate with Barr and Anderson adding final quarter goals to add to another 12 points to double their half-time score.
It’s a semi-final clash now with Derry in Owenbeg on Sunday 2nd July and no doubt a tougher test, but on this form Donegal can travel with no fear.
