Table Toppers Kilcar collected another two league points in the All-County Football League Division 1 with this hard earned victory over Glenswilly.
Glenswilly 1-8 Kilcar 0-15
With 15 minutes left there was only a point between the sides but it was the league leaders who finished the stronger of the two, scoring eight of the game’s last 10 points.
Glenswilly sub Christopher Mc Monagle did palm home a late goal for the home team but it was too little too late. Kilcar led by two points at half-time, 0-5 to 0-3. The teams shared four points in the opening quarter, Gary Mc Fadden got both from play for Glenswilly with Cormac Cannon and Ashley Carr replying for Kilcar, also from play.
After a 10-minute period without a score Kilcar hit three in a row, two more from Ashley Carr and a super score from Mark McHugh who started and finished the move from close to his own 13-metre line.
Glenswilly had the final say of the Half when Gary McFadden slotted over from 20 metres. Two quick points by Keelin and Gary Mc Fadden had Glenswilly on level terms at the start of the second-half but frees by Stephen McBrearty and Matthew Mc Clean restored Kilcar’s two point advantage. Keelin Mc Fadden’s point again left the minimum between them but it was Kilcar who drove on and three quick points, all from play, from Mark Mc Hugh, Michael Hegarty, second-half sub Ciaran Mc Ginley and Stephen Mc Brearty’s free put them five ahead.
Glenswilly responded and points from Gary Mc Fadden and Ryan Diver left a goal in it. Again Kilcar upped the ante and knocked over four in a row, Aodhan Mc Ginley got two with Matthew Mc Clean and Ciaran Mc Ginley getting the others. McMonagle’s goal finished the scoring but came too late to save Glenswilly.
