Crana College faced Edmund Rice College Belfast in the Under-18-and-a-half in the Ulster Post Primary Schools Shield final yesterday.
Played at Owenbeg centre of excellence both teams struggled to settle in the blustery conditions.
[adrotate group=”46″]Crana had the wind in their backs and were able to shoot long range points which gave them the edge in the first half. Captain Ciaran Bradley steadied the team from the back and provided ample opportunity for Oisin Doherty and Kieran Brady to control the forward line.
The second half was a much tighter affair and being against the wind Crana struggled with the Belfast forwards. Oisin Kelly put in a big performance at half back as did Eanna McLaughlin and Shaun McBride in midfield.
[adrotate group=53]Disaster nearly struck in the final moments when the opposition were awarded a penalty but a big save from Bradley kept the score on the right side for the Crana College lads! Well done to Mr. McArt for his dedication to the team and training and to all the lads. The school is extremely proud of you all.
