AIDAN MCATEER was ratified as the new Gaeil Fhánada senior manager just before Christmas.
McAteer takes over from Michael O’Connor, who had two seasons in charge of the club.
A former player at the club, McAteer has confirmed his backroom team. Brendan Callaghan and Cathal Martin are on board as team trainers, Seán Meehan is looking after stats, Seamus McAteer will be the goalkeeping coach and John McConigley will take care of logistics.
James Martin has been appointed as manager of the Gaeil Fhánada reserve team and will be assisted by Ken Dempsey and Seamus McAteer.
Gaeil Fhánada chairman, Micheál Friel said: “Aidan has coached and managed underage teams within the club for several years and has the respect of the players he has worked with.
“It’s obviously a new challenge for him to assume the role of senior manager but I feel this is the correct move for the club going forward and I wish him all the best.”
