DONEGAL WILL be well represented at the Erins Own GAC in Toome for the finals of the Ulster 9 Counties Championships for boys and girls, aged 14, 15, 16 and 17 tomorrow.
In all, 22 Donegal punchers are listed on the finals roster, including five who are guaranteed titles by way of walkover wins.
An array of Irish champions lead the way for Donegal’s clubs.
Paddy McShane of Letterkenny ABC (pictured above) has two national crowns to his name this year already, having won Boy 3 and Junior Cadet titles. McShane meets Oisin Mulholland from East Down in the Boy 14 36kgs final.
[adrotate group=”88″]Eoin McGarrell was the Irish Boy 2 champion in 2014, whilst in the trunks of Finn Valley ABC. Now with Raphoe ABC, McGarrell is in the Junior 1 final at 48kgs when he faces Immaculata’s Danny Duffy.
Finn Valley’s hard-hitting Leon Gallagher has three Irish titles and a European Schoolboys silver medal on his mantlepiece and he’ll look to add to the tally when he clashes with All Saints man John Doherty in the Youth final at 81kgs.
John Moran is another with a trio of Irish titles and the Illies Golden Gloves ace takes on Emyvale’s Daniel McCrudden in the Youth 49kgs decider.
“Best wishes to all the boxers, coaches and clubs in the finals. Hopefully the Donegal boxers will do themselves proud in the finals. It’s great to see the county well represented,” said the President of the Donegal Boxing Board, Peter O’Donnell, speaking from Los Angeles.
