NEIL GALLAGHER has been given the ‘green light’ to resume training with Donegal and will be a part of Rory Gallagher’s squad for next year.
The Glenswilly midfielder didn’t play for Donegal after picking up a back injury during an Allianz League game against Roscommon in Letterkenny last March.
Gallagher returned to action with his club, Glenswilly, for the latter part of the Donegal SFC.
Gallagher came into a team that had won only won three games in five months and helped his side win their third Dr Maguire.

“Big Neil got some good news with the back scan, he’s now very much part of our plans after he got the green light to go back into training again,” Donegal manager Rory Gallagher told Donegal Sport Hub.
“He’s well on the way with his rehab programme now.
[adrotate group=”53″]“He’s well on the mend now. It was a niggle more than anything. He rested for a huge chunk of the summer.
“The back injury led to other wee niggles. It was never anything major that was wrong with Neil as such. It’s just now a matter of making sure he’s 100 per cent again.”
The Donegal manager has not put a time on Gallagher’s return to action, but the Glenswilly man will be ready to add to his 140 Donegal appearances next year.
Donegal remain hopeful that Rory Kavanagh and Christy Toye will commit again for 2017 with the experience of Karl Lacey and Frank McGlynn already on board.
