THERE WAS bitter disappointment for the Royal and Prior in this afternoon’s McCullough Cup final.

A double from Jake Rowe, the second of them coming with only 11 minutes to go, saw the Raphoe students beaten in the final at Lisnagarvey.
Alexander Tinney’s equaliser, four minutes before half-time, brough the Royal and Prior – appearing in their first McCullough Cup final since 2001 – back into the tie.

Raphoe, though, had beaten Banbridge 4-1 in the group phase and went to today’s final in confident mode.
However, Rowe fired home in the 6th minite as he dragged past Sbusiso JJ from a penalty corner.

A 3-1 home win over Wallace High School in Raphoe on Friday fired Raphoe into the final, but they were undone when Man of the Match Rowe slotted home.
