RYAN MCHUGH WAS last night named the Donegal GAA Senior Player of the Year at the annual banquet at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal town.
McHugh (pictured by Geraldine Diver) was considered Donegal’s standout player in 2016, a fact that was also acknowledged when the Kilcar player won an All-Star award.
[adrotate group=”53″]“Any night you get an award in Donegal it’s a special occasion,” he said. “I’m delighted to be here.”
“You set out at the start of the year to win an All-Star or Donegal Player of the Year. You want to win an Ulster championship. From a personal point of view it’s great. There’s a great turnout here tonight. Ever since I was a young lad all I wanted to do was win an All-Ireland.
[adrotate group=”81”]“Kilcar has such a great tradition in football. Growing up is all I wanted to do. I’m delighted Rory is back. He has ambitions the same as myself. We’re doing the best we can. We’re going to give it all our best.”
