On Sunday, Lifford Strabane AC athlete Leoni Mullen travelled to Dublin to the purpose built Sport Ireland National cross country course to participate in the Senior Irish Life Health National Cross Country Championships.
Mullen traveled as part of the Donegal Ladies Team.
The course itself provided the perfect spectacle in ideal racing conditions.
This was a first time experience for the club athlete who found herself rubbing shoulders at the start line with some of the best international runners who hold a vast amount of experience at competing at this level.
[adrotate group=”53″]In a very competitive field of 94 athletes Leoni finished a respectable 77th overall on a super time of 34:35 for the 8,000m distance.
On Thursday, despite freezing temperatures the Winter Woolies 5k Race ‘n’ Walk in Letterkenny took place with 158 entrants.
This event was organised by Letterkenny Rotary Club as a fundraiser for the Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital & Bumbulance (the children’s ambulance service).
