TEMPLE DOMESTIC APPLIANCES DIVISION 1 leaders Donegal Town FC earned a hard fought point at Raphoe Town this afternoon.
Raphoe Town 1-1 Donegal Town
Daniel McHugh thought he’d headed the visitors in front in only the second minute, however referee Marty Quinn gave an offside, which was thought to be given against Stephen Curneen.
Then, on 20 minutes, Curneen saw a shot saved by the Raphoe goalkeeper, Roy Duffy. Then, at the other end, following a run and cross by Christy Bogle, DJ Kelly’s header was cleared off the line by Pauric Harvey.
Kelly then had a chance but Danny McGarrigle made an excellent block. The defensive aspects from both teams were commendable and McHugh crossed to Joe McIntyre but this time Craig Kelly did the block.
The home team took the lead two minutes into the second half. Keelan Bogle, a half-time substitute, fell to Kelly, who blasted high into the top corner.
However, the lead only lasted three minutes. Declan Brown provided the assist for McHugh, who controlled well to finish.
Donegal Town had the chance to go in front when a corner from Ciaran O’Reilly fell to McIntyre at the back post but Duffy in the Raphoe goal made a top class save.
