JAMES MELLY says the half-time break allowed Kildrum Tigers find themselves again and get a notable FAI Junior Cup win over Erne Wanderers.
Generous Kildrum defending allowed Barry Mulligan and Shane McGrath fire Erne two-nil ahead, but Melly’s 53rd minute header helped Kildrum turn the tide.
“It’s nice to get our of the area,” Melly told Donegal Sport Hub.
[adrotate group=”80″]“I wasn’t here when Kildrum got to the Intermediate semi-final, so it’ll be nice to test ourselves against some new teams now.”
Kildrum dug deep to hit four goals in a 15-minute spell in the second half, continuing their fine start to the campaign.
Melly said: “We’ve been consistent. We fell behind in a couple of games and boys have said that Kildrum teams of the last few seasons would have lost them. Any time we’re put in a hole, we dig ourselves out of it.
[adrotate group=”76″]“We started the game well enough, but we made some sloppy errors and gifted them two goals. We dug deep in the second half.
“At half-time, ‘Wizzy’ (Brown) had a good work with us. We knew ourselves that we could get the chances and get the comeback.
“Our tails started to come up and we knew deep down that we could get the victory.”
