A GROUP OF ten Finn Valley AC members will be among those at the World Premiere of I Am Bolt in London on Monday.
The film, a documentary about the life and legacy of Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprint sensation, will premiere at the Odeon in London’s Leicester Square.
The group from Finn Valley will be at the red carpet launch alongside Bolt, the nine-time Olympic and eleven-time World gold medalist.
The invitations came to Finn Valley via Ricky Simms, the former Finn Valley athlete who is Bolt’s agent. Simms, an ex-middle distance runner with Valley and former student of the Royal and Prior in Raphoe, is a Director of Pace Sports Management with his wife Marion.
They will be joined at the Premiere by Raphoe siblings Darren and Grainne O’Dea.
In August, Grainne O’Dea – the Athlete Service Manager at Pace – was in Rio to see Bolt’s winning of three more Olympic Gold medals. Darren O’Dea works for Pace’s athlete service department on a consultancy basis and has worked closely with Bolt.
They will be joined in London by Patsy McGonagle – the Irish Athletics Team Manager and Finn Valley AC Chairman – and his wife, Rosaleen, as well as Kieran Carlin, Diana McGarrigle, Stephen Maguire, Pierce O’Callaghan and Helen Pimm, while Enda Doherty, another Valley man who is a Global assistant manager with Adidas, will be present.
Simms has been with Bolt since the Jamaican was just 16, when he won a World Junior gold medal and has been with him through the Olympic Games in Beijing, London and Rio.
