BURNFOOT SCHOOLBOY Tristan Logue won gold at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Junior European Championships in England.
Logue is in a rich vein of form in his sport, having already won Irish National and UK National titles in 2016.
Logue is something of a martial arts specialist. He trains six days a week in five different disciplines: Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Traditional Ju Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling and Kung Fu.
Logue trains out of Team Evolve in Derry – where he practices BJJ, traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu and Kung Fu – while he trains in Judo with Samurai Uladh and Wrestling with the Waterside Sharks.
A relative novice in these sports, Logue has been competing for just a year and a half, but in that time he has notched up a remarkable 13 gold, six silver and one bronze medal.

In October alone, Logue – who is now at yellow belt level – won gold in the WJJF Ireland Grappling competition (in traditional Ju Jitsu), Silver in the Irish Freestyle Wrestling Championships, and Gold in the Shori Judo Open.
His BJJ coach, Jason McCabe, has dubbed Logue ‘The Prodigy’.

At the BJJ Junior UK National Championships in March, he won Gold in his own Under-30kg weight category before going on to also win Silver in a higher Under–34kg weight division.
At the Irish Nationals, he was the Gold medallist in the Under-34kgs category, beating his opponent with an armbar in less than 12 seconds.
Last weekend, he won Gold in the Under-38 division, beating his Belgian opponent in under 35 seconds.
