JOHN MCDONAGH BOOKED his ticket to this morning’s National Senior light-heavyweight semi-final last night with a convincing win in Dublin.
The Letterkenny ABC man McDonagh overcame Michael Frayne from the St Mary’s ABC in Dublin.
At the National Stadium in a light-heavyweight quarter-final, McDonagh scored another impressive win.
McDonagh’s power and precision was too much for Tallaght puncher Frayne and the Letterkenny boxer claimed a unanimous decision win to book a place in this morning’s semi-final.
[adrotate group=”81″]Last weekend, McDonagh stopped Brian Ward in the second round of their preliminary round contest and he was in top form again last night.
McDonagh will hope to make the final with St Mary’s Daingean’s Brian Kennedy in wait in today’s semi. Last night, Kennedy overcame Paulstown’s Philip Hickey.
Illies Golden Gloves heavyweight Davit Tsotsoria (above right) is set to take on Marcin Skalski from Athlone in a semi-final.

In National Senior – the former Intermediate Championships – quarters, Raphoe welter Orin McDermott was pipped by Thurles’ Conor Ivors, Twin Towns middleweight Paul Kelly was edged by Crumlin’s Tony McGlynn and Illies Golden Gloves light-heavy Garbhán Friel (above middle) lost out to Ryan Donnelly of Two Castles; all three beaten on split decisions.
