Donegal are understood to have opposed the proposed change, but the Ulster Council has voted to go with the proposal, meaning Rory Gallagher’s team is out a week earlier than expected.

Donegal have reached the last six Ulster finals, winning in 2011, 2012 and again in 2014. Tyrone are the reigning holders having defeated Donegal in July’s final with Monaghan taking home the Anglo Celt Cup in 2013 and 2015.
