ANDY CONNOR outlined Downings’ difficulties after his side lost out to Blackhill in the Ulster Junior semi-final at Owenbeg today.
Connor, the Downings manager, was disappointed afterwards, but noted how hard he has it to prepare.
“We have more players not in Downings as we have in Downings,” he explained, “between Belfast, Sligo, Letterkenny, London, Dublin…it’s a big commitment for them boys to come back and keep training.
“It was disappointing. We didn’t play like we can. We gave them a six-point lead. We gave a better showing in the second half and that was important for us.

Downings won the Donegal and All-Ireland Junior titles at Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta this year as well as getting their hands on the Donegal JFC crown.
Connor said: “If you look at it in the grand scheme of things, you’d say we had a good season. We’d love to have reached an Ulster final. This will hurt for a while now.”
