ANTHONY GORMAN felt that his Letterkenny Rovers side delivered something resembling a ‘complete’ performance in yesterday’s FAI Youth Cup win over Bonagee United.
“Yeah, very pleased,” Gorman told Donegal Sport Hub.
“It was quite complete today. The pleasing thing was that wee things we worked on came off today, especially the set plays.
“The last time we played Bonagee, they were unfortunate not to get something from the game, but today we came out of the blocks sharp and we got two good early goals.
“We continued to do the right things and I was really pleased. They didn’t take their foot off the gas.”
Rovers have reached the semi-finals and quarter-finals of the Youth Cup in recent seasons and yesterday’s win means another step on the path.
Tourish and O’Boyle had Rovers 2-0 ahead before Oisin Purdy’s free-kick pulled one back for Bonagee.
A 57th minute strike by Brogan was the key.
Gorman said: “The third goal settled us down and we saw out the game.
[adrotate group=”76″]“We had chances before that to get the third. 2-1 is a dangerous lead. Bonagee have a bit of quality, but the third goal was a great goal.”
