JACK KEANEY was named as Sligo Rovers Under-17 Player of the Year at the weekend.
The Donegal town man, who is a Leaving Certificate student at Abbey Vocational School, received his award at the club’s Gala Awards Night in the Clarion Hotel, Sligo, on Saturday night.
Keaney was in his first season with the Bit O’Red in 2016 having signed from his native Donegal town FC.
The central midfielder lined out with Sligo in the SSE Airtricity Under-17 League and chipped in with a couple of goals throughout the campaign.
Keaney recently was a part of the Ulster squad that won the FAI Schools Interprovincials in Dublin, playing on the team managed by Paul Browne.
He is from a talented household with his brother Luke and sister Kate well known for their exploits with Donegal in Gaelic football.
