OLLIE HORGAN, the Finn Harps manager, said his players were ‘out on their feet’ after what he described as an ‘extremely difficult’ season.
Last night’s 1-0 win over Bohemians, secured through Ryan Curran’s seventh goal of the season, saw Harps end their first Premier Division campaign since 2008 on a winning note.
Already safe in the top flight, after Wexford’s failure to beat Cork on Monday night, Harps ended up with nine points to spare on Wexford.
“Nine points is a little false, but if we’d survived by a point we’d have taken it,” Horgan told Donegal Sport Hub.

[adrotate group=”50″]“It was certainly a tough battle. Those lads have given it everything. They are out on their feet, physically and mentally. For the group, it probably is a better achievement than going up.
“It was a tough year for everyone, for the management, the players and the board.
“It is relentless. It’s a full-time League and we’re everything but that. It’s great to compete in it. It brings it’s difficulties and we saw those through an eight-game run where nothing would fall for us.
[adrotate group=”80″]“It was extremely difficult, but hopefully we’re out on the right side of it.”
Curran struck a superb winner as Harps claimed a first win over Bohemians in 17 years. Harps hadn’t beaten the Gypsies since February 1999, but Curran’s thunderbolt gave Harps the three points.
Horgan said; “It’s a relief more than anything. The result on Monday night down the other end of the country was a bigger relief.
[adrotate group=”85″]“We ground out a result there. It was a good way to finish the season.
“We’ll take it. We ran our luck, but it was a good victory.”
