ILLIES GOLDEN GLOVES held a very successful tournament last night in the Halfway House in Burnfoot.
There was good success for the Illies Golden Gloves boxers on the night with the three Moran borthers, Leigh, Darryl and John, all claiming wins in their bouts.
In an elite bout at 52kgs, Darryl Moran was superb in his win over Davoin Duggan from Ballinacarrow.
Last December, Darryl Moran was pipped by Regan Buckley in a Senior Elite semi-final at light-flyweight. Last year, he was named Donegal’s Best Senior Boxer (pictured above) and showed his worth last night in Burnfoot.
Leigh Moran, in a senior contest at 56kgs, overcame Ballinacarrow’s Mickey McGavin 3-0 while John Moran defeated Dunfanaghy’s Sean Kelly 3-0 in a Junior 46kgs fight.
[adrotate group=”81″]All-rounder Garbhan Friel, who plays for Cockhill Celtic and has lined out for Finn Harps an Institute in the past, won 3-0 against Ballinacarrow’s Mark Scanlon, while Illies boxers Sean Mullan, Brian Ellior, Cathal Brown, Davit Tstoratia and Martin Lynch all won their contests.
