MICHAEL MURPHY SAID the power of the parish helped Glenswilly to overcome Kilcar in Sunday’s Donegal SFC final.
Murphy hit 1-5, including a lethal goal after just 10 minutes, as Glenswilly toppled pre-match favourites Kilcar 1-10 to 0-12.

Murphy was Man of the Match for the third time in a winning county final for his club and leapt into the arms of his father, Mick, at the final whistle. It was pretty evident just how much this meant to the Donegal star.

“The power of people coming together is absolutely phenomenal. Over the last couple of months, everybody at a low ebb put the shoulder to the wheel.
“I know that’s very cliched, but when an area and a group do that for a reason it can be very powerful.”
[adrotate group=”53″]A few weeks ago, Murphy’s season looked over when he suffered what seemed a serious injury in a League game against St Michael’s, but he was soon back in action.
Alongside that of Neil Gallagher, Murphy’s return saw Glenswilly hit form at just the right time.
On the final, he said: “We weren’t given an iota of a chance. We wanted to go in and empty ourselves into the game and see where that took us. We rode the luck after a decent chance and got the win in the end.”
