THERE WAS a busy day of action yesterday in the two divisions of the Donegal Saturday League.
Glencar Inn Saturday Division
Orchard F.C. 1 Arranmore United 0
THIS game was played at the Community Centre in Letterkenny on a lovely dry day.
The first half was a tight affair with both teams creating chances. Arranmore came closest by hitting the crossbar with five minutes to go to the break.
Orchard started the second half brightly and were rewarded on 60 minutes when Joe McCarron fired a free kick into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Arranmore pressed for an equaliser but the Orchard defence stood firm.

ANOTHER calm day welcomed everyone to Strand Park to watch Strand Rovers take on Drumbar United.
Strand and Drumbar were both fast in the action and the game swung from end to end in the opening minutes Doalty Boyle had Strand’s best chance while David Giblin almost scored for Drumbar.
As the match settled Strand took control but were unable to break the deadlock in the first half. The second half was much the same with Strand taking control.
They were rewarded for their efforts when a deflected cross gave the Drumbar keeper Mark Butler with no chance. The goal spurred Strand and soon afterwards Darragh Hanlon scored a beautiful goal from 30 yards. Drumbar still kept attacking, showing their brilliant team spirit, but unfortunately for them the game was put to bed when Strand’s Matthew O’Donnell completed the scoring.
Fintown Harps AFC 2 Dunlewey Celtic 0
FINTOWN Harps welcomed Dunlewey Celtic to Pairc Achla on what was a fine day for a game.
The early stages were even enough with Fintown coming closest through Steven Boyle, the visiting keeper, making a good save.
Half chances came and went for both sides before Fintown got the breakthrough.
Boyle was fouled and John Molloy stepped forward to whip the ball around the Dunlewey wall and into the net from 25 yards.
Fintown dominated the second half and created several good chances.
Boyle got the goal his play deserved when he ran onto a through ball and slotted past the ‘keeper to complete a complete Fintown performance against the Saturday Division’s new boys.

Saturday Reserve Division
Keadue Rovers Reserves 1 Glenea United Reserves 2
GLENEA Reserves overcame Keadue Reserves at Central Park on Saturday with a late goal clinching victory. It was a glorious day for football and both teams played an open first half.
Keadue had the majority of the possession in the opening half and created a number of good chances but could not convert them.
The second half was only a few minutes old when Glenea took the lead with Martin Maguire converting. It didn’t take Keadue long to get back on level terms when striker Christy Greene scored with a good finish.
By the hour mark Glenea were getting on top forcing some clearances from the Keadue defence however the home side came more into things in the closing 15 minutes.
Nine minutes from the end, Adam Neely’s great ball in from the right wing presented a chance to Luke Neely but his effort was scrambled clear by the keeper.
Glenea were again unlucky on eighty five minutes when Hugh Boyle in the Keadue nets saved well from a close range strike.
Just after that Adam Neely had a great effort from the right wing which hit the post and rebounded to safety. Keadue paid for their missed chances when on 87 minutes Michael McClafferty hit a fine long range effort directly to the corner of the net. Despite pressuring Glenea in the closing minutes the home side could not get the equaliser.

The home side came into this game full of confidence after an impressive 4-0 win last week at home to Glenree. They were unlucky not to go one up early on through Michael Bowring who’s effort was narrowly wide, Erne pressed the ball well from the off and attacked with intent.
Their pressure paid off before the half hour mark with Malcolm O’Reilly winning a penalty for a heavy tackle on the edge of the box. Packie Hill stepped up, after missing last week’s game through injury, to bury the ball past the keeper and put Erne in front.
It was 2-0, before the break, a run down the wing from Luke Toland and a great delivery to the back post for O’Reilly to head home.
Karl O’Brien in the Wanderers goal had little to do in the first half with Cappry struggling to create chances. The second half was just under way when O’ Reilly teed up Hill to make it 3-0.
Just after the hour a great through ball from Nicky Sheerin put O’Reilly through for his second of the day and Wanderers’ fourth.
Cappry won a penalty at the end but O’Brien comfortably saved what was the last kick of the game. A good team effort from a depleted Cappry side with Malcom O’Reilly putting in a man of the match performance with two goals and an assist.

MILFORD welcomed St. Catherines to Moyle View Park on a great day for a game.
The first half was very even but Milford went in one up when a corner from Anthony Hegarty found Ciaran Blaney free at the back post to nod home. Milford started the second half strong and made it 2-0 with Jason Mc Conigley finishing off a fine team move.
It was 3-0 soon after with JJ Fleming sliding home a Ciaran Blaney cross. St Catherines got one back with 20 minutes left. Eamon Bonner rose highest in the box to head home.
Milford held on though to record their first victory of the season. A good team performance from Milford and a good effort from St Catherines who will be looking for revenge in two weeks’ time when the sides meet in the Voodoo Cup.
