NAOMH COLUMBA COMPLETED the semi-final line-up in the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure IFC with a comfortable replay win over St Naul’s in Ardara.
Naomh Columba 2-7 St Naul’s 0-3
When the sides met at the weekend, St Naul’s came from seven points down to seal a dramatic draw, Naomh Columba 1-18 St Naul’s 3-9.
With the Mountcharles team missing their talisman Stephen Griffin, who had booked a holiday long before the weekend’s draw, it was always going to be an uphill struggle.
The first half was a low-scoring one in difficult conditions at Pearse Park, with Naomh Columba going in 0-3 to 0-2 in front with Philip Doherty’s 27th minute point the difference.
Gavin Mulreany levelled it for St Naul’s a minute into the second half but that was the last point his team would manage.
A Philip Doherty goal on 44 minutes really put daylight between the teams, when he prodded home after a long ball in from Paddy Byrne.
Substitute Gavin McGinley added a second goal late on and Burt will be Naomh Columba’s semi-final opponents on Saturday, with Milford and Aodh Ruadh also due to meet in the last four.#
