John Menchia Gallagher was the winner of the inaugural O’Donnell’s Bar 8 Week Tournament following a wonderful display of darts on the night in Carrick on Friday night.
Menchia, who was week 1, winner beat week 2 winner John Ward 6-2. Ward took the opening leg with the help of two 140s, Menchia won the next five legs with a 120 and 78 finishes and a 180 a brilliant finish on double 19 kept Ward in the game to make it 5-2.

But with the help of a 180, Menchia took the eighth leg to secure the title. Ward had the highest checkout of the night a 148 in his opening match of the evening. In the semi-finals Menchia had a battle with Kieran Gallagher, who had a 118 checkout in the opening leg.

Menchia finished 136 to level before Gallagher went 2-1 up with 140 and 134 scores. Menchia replied with two 140s to make it 2-2. A 180 in the next leg put him ahead for the first time and he made no mistake winning the next two to win including a brilliant 135 (25, treble 20 bull) finish to win.
While in the other semi-final Ward overcame Andrew Gillespie 5-2. Gillespie took the first leg but never got going to cause Ward any problems. In the first round Menchia beat Raymond Hegarty who was a late replacement for Michael Curran who could not make it due to work commitments 4-0.
Menchia had a 180, Andrew Gillespie beat Adrian Byrne 4-2, John Ward beat Declan Quinn in a brilliant match where Ward had a 118 finish and 148 to win with Qiunn on a double. Gallagher put in a great game of darts to beat John Con McGinley 4-2.
