ORCHARD FC HAD an 8-0 win over Fintown Harps in the Glencar Inn Saturday Division yesterday with Michael Sweeney scoring a hat-trick.
Glencar Inn Saturday Division
Orchard FC 8-0 Fintown Harps AFC
Orchard started brightly and were in front on 10 minutes through Krissi Mc Laughlin. The rest of the half was a tight enough affair with both teams creating plenty of chances. The second half started and Orchard doubled their lead within two minutes.
[adrotate group=”38″]Jerome Burke set up Eddie Moore who finished well. The third goal came shortly afterwards, Eddie Moore scored his second. The fourth and fifth were scored by Micheal Sweeney who was having a brilliant game. Luke Friel, who had just come on, scored a brace and Micheal Sweeney rounded of his hat-trick late on and made it 8-0 in favour of Orchard. A very good team effort from Orchard.
Drumbar FC 2-5 Dunlewey Celtic
The visitors took the lead early when what looked like a cross sneaked it’s way into the net past the Drumbar keeper. The home side bounced back and within five minutes Keelan Heeney had levelled the score.
[adrotate group=”37″]An excellent wide run from Ray Balogun and a pin point cross to the feet of Keelan Heeney resulted in another goal. 2-1 to Drumbar. The game stayed like this well into the second half until after a questionable but well taken free kick was converted by Dunlewy, 2-2. A poor passage of play from the home side after this gifted the lead to the visiting team.
Drumbar lost possession after a throw in and had too many men pushed forward. Dunlewey’s number 11 turned the Drumbar defence for a great finish. The home side tired after this and Dunlewy added two more to their tally. An enjoyable game to watch with the scoreline a bit deceiving.
Strand Rovers 2-2 Glencar Celtic
The match started very intensely as both sides looked to make their mark and start on the front foot.
Strand looked sharper to begin with as both Michael Ward and Paddy Glackin came very close to scoring early on. Glencar hit straight back. Stephan Browne fired a shot which rattled the frame of the goal. Strand broke the deadlock however when Stephan Glackin sent in a pinpoint ball which landed with Michael Ward who slotted home. The goal inspired Strand to push on and ten minutes later Stephan Glackin sent in a ball which Michael Ward put away.
Glencar pushed forward and won themselves a corner just before the half-time whistle. The ball was sent in by Kevin O’Donnell, Kevin McGovern fumbled it and it ended up in the back of the net. The late goal spurred on Glencar and early in the second half they punished Strand when Eddie McLaughlin found himself free in the box and he levelled the scores, setting up for an entertaining end to the game, Brendan Glackin’s long range shot which hit the post was the closest either side came to adding to the scoreline.

( Match Postponed )
Milford United Reserves 2-2 Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves
This game was switched to Tri-a-loch with Milford’s pitch being unplayable. Milford started well and were awarded a penalty after Ciaran Blaney was fouled in the box. Anthony Hegarty stepped up and saw his effort well saved but was on hand to smash home the rebound.
[adrotate group=”76″]Milford went in at half-time one up in a very uneventful first half. Milford made it 2-0 on 60 minutes after a very unfortunate own goal from one of the Kilmacrennan defenders. Kilmacrennan rallied though and made it 2-1 after good work from Colm Brogan. He beat four Milford men before slotting home. Kilmacrennan then made it 2-2 in the 89th minute.
A Shaun Sandilands free kick found Darragh McGrath free at the back post to head home. A very disappointing performance from Milford with Gerard McGrenra best for Kilmacrennan.
