RYAN CARLIN WASN’T too disappointed after Convoy Arsenal made their exit from this season’s FAI Junior Cup on Sunday.
“We have more important things to worry about this season,” he told Donegal Sport Hub after Sunday’s game at Orchard Park.
“We’re trying to stay in the Premier Division and maybe even finish in the top half. It’d be better than getting a Cup run and be lingering around the bottom of the table.”
[adrotate group=”37″]Paddy Doherty’s two goals saw Illies progress with Anthony Bogle firing in the Convoy goal in between times.
Carlin said: “We can’t take anything away from them. They put the ball in the net and we just couldn’t do it. We conceded two soft goals.”
Convoy dropped down the Divisions after going back into the Donegal League following their withdrawal from the Ulster Senior League in June 2011. They lost six league games on the spin in 2011 and pulled out having scored twice and conceded 41 goals.
[adrotate group=”38″]They’re finding their feet now again and, after successive promotions in the Donegal League, are back among the elite of the Premier Division once more.
Jonny Robb has been a loss this term, but Carlin is positive for what the future holds.
He said: “You need a good structure if you want to progress. We’re slowly getting there. We aren’t the finished article yet. Take out three or four of us, the rest are all under 25. It’s all encouraging and the club is going in the right way.”
