PAUL CARR SAYS two goals just before half-time allowed St Eunan’s to ‘control’ yesterday’s Under-21 quarter-final against Buncrana.
After an earlier goal by Sean McGettigan, it was the goals by Michael Miller and Oisin Carr late in the first half that allowed St Eunan’s to move significantly clear and put them on their way to a 4-8 to 0-11 win, a fourth goal added by Niall O’Donnell in the second half.
“It was a very tight game from start to finish,” the St Eunan’s manager told Donegal Sport Hub.
“We got the couple of goals just before half-time which settled us and allowed us, with the wind, to play a cagey game within ourselves.
“Buncrana are a very strong side. We have a wee bit of history in that they beat us in the minor final three years ago so there’s a bit of satisfaction for us there now that we have one back over them.
[adrotate group=”38″]“We were coming into injury time and the game was level coming up to half-time, but the goals really settled us for the second half. We controlled our shape and the game in the second half.”
St Eunan’s were beaten finalists last year, going down to Kilcar in the final, but they’ve now turned the tables on Buncrana, who defeated Kilcar, with another familiar foe, Gaoth Dobhair, now in wait.
[adrotate group=”70″]Carr said: “The team has been playing well and training hard all year. Hopefully we can kick on now, but the standard is very high in the under-21 championship this year.”
