RICHARD TINNEY is confident that his Raphoe ladies side can do enough this season to stay in the Premier Division.
Raphoe, after a history-making season last term when they won promotion to the Premier Division for the first time ever, have lost some key personnel from their squad, but Tinney remains upbeat.
Last night, they were beaten 3-0 by Ballymoney in their opening Denman Ulster Shield fixture.
“It’s a big learning curve for me and for the girls,” Tinney told Donegal Sport Hub.
[adrotate group=”38″]“We will lose a lot of games, but we’re focussed on a few games that we know we can win to stay in the Premier League.
“We’d be confident. We’ll visualise the points we want and take it from there.”
Catherine Knipe, Ruth Sutherland and Catherine Gawn scored the goals for Ballymoney last night as Raphoe had their errors penalised in style by a side that will be aiming to contend for honours this season.
[adrotate group=”81″]Tinney said: “It was a harsh lesson. A couple of silly mistakes cost us. It’s another step up and I thought they did brilliant overall.
“They worked hard as a team. Ballymoney will be looking to be second or third, so I’m very, very happy.
“One of the things we worked on was learning to defend as a team. In the second half, we got up there and had a couple of chances.”
